Is Steam down due to heavy Christmas sale traffic?

UPDATE: Steam is up and working now and there should be no issues in purchasing games now.

Yes, you read it right. Steam is down, and it seems like it is because of heavy Christmas sale traffic.

Gamers from all over the world are having a go on Steam's christmas sale, and hot titles like Watch Dogs 2, Doom Franchise, Firewatcn and others are available at a discounted price.

This year's much talked about title Grim Fandango Remastered too is available at a discounted price. For serious gamers, Steam's sale is a blessing.

Steam however, so far has not made any public statement as to why Steam store is down on their official Twitter account or otherwise. We'll have to wait for Steam to go online again so that we can get our hands on the title we have missed.

Even Steam's website https://steamcommunity.com/ is throwing back error message:

Steam's christmas sale will be on until 2nd January, 2017. So, there's ample time for gamers to buy their favourite titles. Not only the sale, but Steam's official gaming awards too kickstarted today! So, don't forget to vote for your favourite game.
